YO everyone! So for this week in science class we handed in our lab and did more light stuff.
What did we learn in science this week?
Mon: We asked questions on our lab which was due Tues, and we made analogies with light. I said light is like the water in a squirt gun. We also said light is like bouncy balls which led to the discussion of particles.
Tues:We talked about the Law of Reflection.
The angle of incidence= the angle of reflection
We also tried to disprove hypothesis on shining a laser in a cup of water and how we see it. We also experimented with how a ruler looks bent in water if you only put in half way.
Wed: we read an article on Isaac Newton v. Christian Huygens. Newton talked about the light being corpules or photons. (Like particles, bouncy balls, or basket balls.) Huygens talked about the luminiferous ether (Light moves like ripples in water.) Both ideas include reflection. We talked about how both ideas worked and how they related to our cup experiment. We also related this to a video on bending light.
Thurs: We did a couple experiments with water to show how Huygens's idea worked. We ran some water in the sink and out a rock in the middle of it. We watched the particles bounce around it. For H.W. we had to explain why the particle model is confusing.
Fri: NO SCHOOL!!!!!! XD
Why is this important?
This is important because we need to know how scientist like Newton and Huygens studied light. That way we can build on their ideas so we can understand light better and be better scientist.
Yup! XD
